I just booted the latest daily build of the Ubuntu 13.10 Desktop 64bit
(Alpha) live CD, and wi-fi worked perfectly on the Lenova IdealCentre

Your wireless adapter is not Broadcom..
It is 03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device 8179

It appears you need a kernel = 3.10 for that chip to work:

Daniel, are you certain I don't have a broadcom? My external USB wi-fi
device (that I used only to post the bug) is Realtek. The link I posted
from Lenova, says the computer has a broadcom internally.
Lonnie Lee Best, as per http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/info
/kernel-version-map.html Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.29 is based on upstream 3.8.8,
so you would not be using a kernel greater than 3.10.
Hence, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO
