Prasanna Kumar, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops- and-netbooks/thinkpad-l-series-laptops/thinkpad-l430 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.63). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1419439] Re: Screen freeze when watching video in VLC
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64431#c24 has the same stack trace. Will try to check this weekend if the bug is fixed in drm-intel- nightly branch. If a .deb is available for that kernel I can use it directly which may speed up my testing. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #64431 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64431 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419439 Title: Screen freeze when watching video in VLC Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Screen freezes when I watch video in VLC media player. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1419439] Re: Screen freeze when watching video in VLC
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.19 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
