ie. any Ubuntu any kernel
symptom:
tail --follow=name --retry /var/log/syslog
Mar 2 11:36:06 c89 kernel: [649937.206226] thunderbolt :07:00.0: resetting
error on 0:c.

Still happens on 4.3 mainline. It's happened on every kernel I've used
on this machine, and feels related to bug #1493989 , though may not be.
