2016-09-26 Thread bo
Another question. On the Wiki page for the MainlineBuilds under
Preparing to install an upstream kernel I read that I should uninstall
modules for virtualbox. But in my view virtualbox is involved in the
messages, so how can I test the kernel with vitualbox running if I don't
have the modules installed? can I re-install virtualbox after I have
booted the upstream kernel again?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1623516] Re: My sylog and dmesg is full of WARN Event TRB Messages.

2016-09-26 Thread bo
Dear Joseph,

thank you for your feedback. I have been looking to the upstream
kernels, but I'm a bit unsure which to install, I would choose:

 linux-headers-4.8.0-040800rc8_4.8.0-040800rc8.201609252231_all.deb
and
 linux-image-4.8.0-040800rc8-generic_4.8.0-040800rc8.201609252231_amd64.deb

would you agree? Right now I have:

Linux workstation 4.4.0-38-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 6 15:42:33 UTC
2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

Do I need to consider anything in regards to my encrypted disc?

Thank you and best regards Boris

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1623516] Re: My sylog and dmesg is full of WARN Event TRB Messages.

2016-09-15 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I *think* it is related to USB, but am not at all sure about this and
cannot directly match it to anything direclty. Actually USB seems to
be working for me, I just see these massive logs. On time of repoting
this, I have the following USB devices attached:
