The problem also affects the "airplane mode". The loss of wifi connectivity can be restored by entering and exiting airplane mode provides the option to reenable the wifi board. Additionally, using the fn+ key combination airplane mode can be manually entered, but not exited. (which seems to be a common 18.04 problem, with a simple web search). This is an identical issue to those reported for Realtek, but I have not found an existing report for Intel. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1779817 This was no a problem in 16.04 or 17.10 with the identical hardware. 18.04 was installed clean. Happy to provide more information, however, I am not exactly sure what information to provide?
