Bug description:

  [Impact]
This bug comes from OEM cert project of HP, the front mic jack can't detect
any plug/unplug, and we can't record any sound from plugged mic. This is a
  block for OEM project.

  [Fix]
The fix comes from Realtek, it is said that this is a power issue, after
changing
the capability of the pin of linein, the power will keep being on for both
linein
and front mic, then this issue is fixed.

  [Test Case]
We tested plug/unplug detection and record through iphone/nokia type
headset-mic,
  all worked well.

  [Regression Potential]
none, this is new added quirk, and only apply to the specific machine.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1789145] Re: Microphone cannot be detected with front panel audio combo jack on HP Z8-G4 machine

2018-09-14 Thread Brad Figg
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the
results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-
bionic' to 'verification-done-bionic'. If the problem still exists,
change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-failed-
bionic'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!
