Wait, after I updated my system, the reader stopped working. It only
seems to work with a clean install of Ubuntu without any reboots or
updates.

I updated to the latest mainstream kernel 4.20.0-042000rc2-generic This
did not fix the issue, The SD card reader only worked back in Ubuntu
18.04 with one of the 4.15 kernels.
