Hi Steve- I think that this is related to https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/issues/7422 (and the other bugs near it). This is a particularly problematic section of wx/gtk interaction. I believe that the way this widget works has been improved in wx3.1, so once the new wxWidgets is available
