Hello,

*Contribution to the improvement of the site*

If you have created modules, components, diagrams or prints which you are
ready to share for free with the community, you can send them to my address
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Nevertheless it is necessary to take account of the some following details:

   1. For safety reasons, all the executable files will be blocked by the
provider, unfortunately the .LIB extension of the components library appears
   suspect at Google.

*This even if it is Zipped!*

I thus ask you to *zip the files .LIB*, and then change the
*.ZIP*extension to
*.ZI* (so they will be not scanned).

   2. As is possible, separate the files by category (Microprocessors,
   connectors, etc...)

   3. One small description of the contents of each file is welcome. (in
   text format).

Thanks in advance for your contribution

[kicad-users] PS/2 Keyboard Female Connector

2007-12-14 Thread patrickymwong
Hello all,

Does anyone know whether there is a component for eeschema and a
footprint for pcbnew, for a PS/2 Keyboard Female Connector? That
should be a DIN-6 female connector.

I can find a DIN-5 in the conn library, but I don't know which is the
corresponding pcb footprint.

Thanks in advance for any kind advice.

Patrick

Hello,

I think it would be nice to have some kind of guidelines and good
practices for creating Kicad Libraries. I only created a few components so
far but it would be great if everybody could help increasing the available
libraries. And to have some consistency, it would be necessary to have
guidelines. A small tutorial could also be great to help newbies create
components to right way and tell them how to share them.
I would be glad to be able to contribute if I can have a way to control
the quality of my library before submitting it. Things I wondered about
are naming conventions, how to organize pins (mapping of the chip or
grouping in a way that make more sense), what about the power pins, ...

If someone is interested in this, I can do a list of all the questions I
had, that can be a good start for creating guidelines.

To ease contribution, can't we put all libraries on SVN, either the
official kicad SVN or another one? I think there's already such a project
started on sourceforge but without much contributions. There could be a
submit section where everybody would have write access, then maintainers
could push them in an official branch once they're sure they meet the
guidelines.

Well, that's a bit more complex than what I described but the main idea is
to make it easy for anybody to contrinute by adding or improving
components.

Hi, Patrick

You can use mini_din lib from http://library/oshec.org

or the librarys from my site www.reniemarquet.cjb.net.

In my site already the 3D model too.

[kicad-users] Footprint not found.

2007-12-14 Thread Jos

Hello all,

I am new to this group, my name is Jos Raven.
Since a few days I am getting my feet wet in using Kicad.

I found a lot of converted libraries, original Eagle cad, and put them
in the kicad structure.
I found out how to get to the components in eeschema and they are in
the netlist.
However, reading in the netlist in pcbnew I get the message footprint
not found .
How can I correct this so that the footprint is usable in pcbnew?

Any hints?
