I downloaded all latest linux binaries and none latest than
kicad-20080612-r1119-linux doesn't work. If i run it just simply
nothing happens. I am using ubuntu. Any idea what could be wrong?

running on linux just fine.
I remember that I had to update to the latest cmake to get it to compile but
everything else worked smoothly.
