As I mentioned, I think Gnucash constructed this transaction (and others
like it) when I imported from Quicken. When I found the matching
transactions in GC and removed them, it had no effect on balances and I

I will work on creating a small-as-possible and sanitized version you can
try. I think it will crash with just the single transaction, so I just need
to remove account information not related to that

I traced this down to a number of transactions that had quantity 0. These
were stock transactions. I removed the transactions and the import no longer
crashes.
