Just for future reference, the Library of Congress maintains the documentation of the MARC21 standard; for bib record documentation, start here: http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/ It's not always easy reading, but as a systems librarian (and not a cataloger!) I find it indispensable. Paul.
