Last week there was a similar problem but with debian 9.
Short solution found: Increase apache timeout.
You can take a look at that thead.

the recommended supported version.

It only works if you are installing from packages, which is recommended.

What your error belows means is your kohaadmin user can not connect to the
database. You set up that use in mysql eh?
