I developed a new feature [1] to track items in used in a library.
It's like a normal checkout but the patron is not allowed to go out with it
and has to return the item at the end of the day.
I am looking for the best term to use on the interface (and in the code itself).

Purely subjectively 'In house use' and 'on-site' sound a bit unnatural.
'reading room' seems to be a fairly common term for short loan

In house use: sounds like anywhere in the library only. Might even have
connotations that only librarians can
