Release notes don't talk about upgrading from 17.11
I suppose there are mainly these things to do:
- Enable Plack and Memcached
- Fix koha-conf.xml for upload_path parameter

 Koha 18.05, a major release of the Koha open source integrated library

 Read the full release notes here:
 https://koha-community.org/koha-18-05-released/

 If you do not usually read the release notes, you should at least read

 new "Important notes" section at the top.

 The Debian packages for this new version will be available soon. Stay
 tuned!

 They are supposed to work out-of-the-box on:
 * Debian Jessie (8)
 * Debian Stretch (9)
 * Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS)
 And should work without too much trouble under Ubuntu Bionic (18.04
>> LTC),
 check the install wiki page for more information.

 Cheers,

Hi! You can try the statistics table. statistics.type will give you 'issues',
'return', etc., just filter it to this two. It has datetime, borrowernumber,
itemnumber which you can use in restoring recorda for your issues/old
issues. Hth!

Hi Sekhar,

Upgrading from 3.12 is usually ok.   Could you detail the errors you
encounter?

Exporting/importing the biblios also theoratically works fine, but some
versions have had glitches preventing it.  Still, updatedatabase.pl
should work unless you have customized the DB.

[Koha] Koha 18.05.00 released

2018-05-24 Thread Jonathan Druart
Hello everybody,

It is with great pleasure that the Koha community announces the release of
Koha 18.05, a major release of the Koha open source integrated library
system.

Read the full release notes here:
https://koha-community.org/koha-18-05-released/

If you do not usually read the release notes, you should at least read the
new "Important notes" section at the top.

The Debian packages for this new version will be available soon. Stay tuned!

They are supposed to work out-of-the-box on:
* Debian Jessie (8)
* Debian Stretch (9)
* Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS)
And should work without too much trouble under Ubuntu Bionic (18.04 LTC),
check the install wiki page for more information.

Cheers,
Jonathan

[Koha] Koha manual moved to gitlab/koha-community

2018-05-24 Thread Jonathan Druart
Hi everybody,

This is a follow-up of "Centralize and move to gitlab"

The remote for the kohadocs repository must be replaced with
https://gitlab.com/koha-community/koha-manual

You certainly need to do the following to apply this change:

`git remote set-url origin https://gitlab.com/koha-community/koha-manual`
then update with `git fetch origin`

Please report issues and make merge requests on this new url.

Pushes are disabled and a new commit "This repository is OBSOLETE!" has
been added to the previous repo, you should never see this commit in your
local repository/branches (unless you did something wrong).

Regards,
Jonathan

The user manual for the current stable series 17.11 clearly says that
this feature is only available for French systems -
https://koha-community.org/manual/17.11/html/02_administration.html#opaccloud

//This preference only applies to French systems at this time//

So there!

You do have a way out though -
https://koha-community.org/manual/17.11/html/16_cron_jobs.html#subject-author-clouds

You can also have a look at this page -
http://ain-opac.l2c2.co.in/custinc/cloud-subject.html

If you move the pointer over to the text, you will see that the texts
are linked to actual searches. The opac is password protected. So if
you wish to see it in action, mail me off-list for a temp id/password.

[Koha] Subject Cloud

2018-05-24 Thread Rubén Fernández Asensio

Hi all,

I run a small library and I want to allow OPAC users to browse our
holdings by topic. Most of our holdings use the 653a MARC21 field as
subject headings.
I enabled the "OPAC Cloud" preference. Then I tried to build the tag
database as instructed:
	export KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/sites/biblioteko/koha-conf.xml;
/usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/build_browser_and_cloud.pl -t 653a -c

The command exited successfully, as far as I could tell. Now the OPAC
shows a "Subject Cloud" link, but it only displays the following text:

"Note: This feature only available to French catalogs where ISBD
subjects have been populated, and an index built by separate script."

According to HEA (https://hea.koha-community.org/systempreferences) at
least 89 libraries around the world use this feature, and I can't
believe they're all French language libraries. What are the exact
requirements to have this working? Does any of you use this feature, and
can guide me step by step?
