[Koha] Zebra stops every day

Hi All,

I am using Koha17.11, I moved my old DB which was working fine in koha16.11,

But now my zebra server stops daily or after two or three days,  actually
i have not noted exact duration.

I come to know this error when I see no results in opac search and in About
Koha page there is an Error Message saying,

"Zebra server seems not to be available, is it started? "

Then I issue command,

Koha-restart-zebra library

And it works fine.

But why should i issue the command again  and again.

Any solutions?

 I have searched your union catalog, but it is not showing number of items
available in libraries. in "Availability"

here are examples. Availability: *Items available:* CNM School Mumbai (),
Availability: *Items available:* NMIMS SOE (),


Secondly please share if you are using only one server? or connected the
koha servers of all the libraries?and if all the libraries are continuously
adding their calogue records? and automatically updated on union catalog??or
you take excel sheet from all libraries and then import them to koha union
catalog?

We are planning to use koha for union catalogue, initially 5-10 libraries
having round about 10 (one lac) books in total.
This count may increase to hundreds of libraries and millions of books.
Is koha favourable for union catalogues?

[Koha] Broken packages, Unmet dependencies

Hi All,
 I removed libsasl2-2,
sudo apt-get remove libsasl2-2
It started removing other packages too, i was shaked, hurriedly i pressed
ctrl + x, ctrl + c,
then i saw error messag something like this:
The process was intrupted.

Now i have lost the following:

Gnome ubuntu destop
access to Koha opac and Koha staff client

And packages Like libreoffice, gnome, gdm3, apache2, and many more

If i try to install them error shows;

You have held broken packages,
sometimes says already installed
could not be installed, it has unmet dependencies.
when try to remove any package  it says,;
not intalled.
i am stucked
how to get rid of unmet dependeCies and broken packages,

I have tried,
sudo su
clean
autoclean
autoremove
apt-get clean
apt-get autoclean
apt-get autoremove
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

nothing worked.

Help plz

[Koha] Why are koha emails queued?

Hi All,

I am fed up. I dont want koha to send checkin, checkout email notices in
message queue.

It should send emails immediately as we send  normal emails from gmail
account.

How is it possible?

Hi everyone,

  I have configured postfix, mailutils  and gmail with my Ubuntu 16.04 to
send Email Notifications from koha 16.11.

I can send emails from command line using the following command:

echo "This is a test." | mail -s "test message" javedshoukat...@gmail.com

emails are received on this address:  javedshoukat...@gmail.com

but when I issue the command: ./process_message_queue.pl

following message appears:

connect to gmail.com failed (Connection timed out)
connect to gmail.com failed
connect to gmail.com failed (Connection timed out) no (more) retries!
 at ./process_message_queue.pl line 66.


any idea? plz.

[Koha] Configuring smtp mail server to work with Koha

Hi Pedro,

  I am facing a problem with koha notifications similar to that you had
been facing in the past, your message details at the end of this email.

When I use following commands.

1.koha-shell library
2.export PERL5LIB="/usr/share/koha/lib"
3.export KOHA_CONF="/etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml"
4.cd /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs

above all go fine, but when i use following command:

5../process_message_queue.pl

this error message appears:

connect to localhost failed (Connection refused)
connect to localhost failed
connect to localhost failed (Connection refused) no (more) retries!
 at ./process_message_queue.pl line 66.


Then in patron accounts, email status changes to "failed".

I have solved the problem:
Sendmail.pm needs to have smtp => 'localhost' and port => 25 and the e-mail
notifications are now working.

   In koha preferences,

itemcallnumber:   082ab  works fine.

 itemcallnumber:   082cd also works fine.


itemcallnumber:   082abcd  does not work.

Only first two subfields work with 082 tag.

I wan to use four subfields  abcd,
How it will be possible?

Hi everyone,

I have implemented koha at our Institution. I want koha tag 082abcd to
display call number on OPAC and Staff Client.
 but 082 subfields a and b  are linked with 952$o

*and 082 subfields c and d are not linked with 952$o.*

how can these tags linked. help plz.

Koha shows only the text which I put in 082 field a and b, but what is in
field c and d is not shown.

I have changed 082ab to 082abcd in koha preferences itemcallnumber, but
still not working.

like check out, check in, overdue etc. I have installed postfix.
Everything is set I can send emails from commands line.

but in patron accounts email status is "pending".

Hi everyone!

I have set postfix with gmail to send Email Notices for  Check In, Check
Out, and every transaction made in Circulation Module,

But in user accounts Notices tab Email status is pending.
I want koha to send email notices immediately.
 But it is not sending emails.

I have installed "mailutils" using command below:
*#  sudo apt-get install mailutils*
Everything is ok,
I can send emails using the command below:

But notifications emails by koha are not sent,

[Koha] Email message sending error in koha

Hi everyone!

I have set postfix with gmail to send Email Notices for  Check In, Check
Out, and every transaction made in Circulation Module,

But in user accounts Notices tab Email status is pending.
I want koha to send email notices immediately.
 But it is not sending emails.

I have installed "mailutils" using command below:
*#  sudo apt-get install mailutils*
Everything is ok,
I can send emails using the command below:

*# mail -s "This is the subject" javedshoukat...@gmail.com
 <<< 'This is the message'*
But notifications emails by koha are not sent,

I have tried

I have implemented koha at our Institution. I want koha tag 082abcd to
display call number on OPAC and Staff Client.
 but 082 subfields a and b  are linked with 952$o

*and 082 subfields c and d are not linked with 952$o.*

how can these tags linked. help plz.

[Koha] How to Link my Koha to my College website

Hello!
   I am new to koha. I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 and koha 16.11 as
instructed on the following link:

It is working fine on my LAN, but I want to link this Ubuntu Koha server
with my college website, (www.iol.edu.pk). So that everyone can access
oever the internet. Please guide me, I shall be thankful.
