Lost may take one of several values. 0 means 'Not lost'. These are
enumerated in the authorised_values category 'LOST'.

...as well as the option to pick any other status for that item??
using koha ver 16.05.04.000
version 3.22.00.000 seems to still have the "lost" status option
is this a bug that I missed ??...for
