[Koha] Koha World Tour

2016-10-03 Thread Magnus Enger
Dear Community,

I just sent Joann off to Stockholm (by way of Oslo), after her visit in Norway.

In Oslo we had two presentations (one very well attended one for
library school students) and one visit in a library that uses Koha.
The Koha community in Norway is small and scattered, but interest is
steadily growing.

We spent the weekend exploring areas nort of the Polar Circle,
including Bodø and the Lofoten Island.

Looking forward to meeting her - and lots of other cool Koha geeks -
again in Marseille in one week!

Have fun!
Magnus

[Koha] Koha World Tour

2016-09-15 Thread Marton VILLANYI
Dear Koha-Community,

we just said goodbye to Joann Ransom in Austria. Yesterday we had a wonderful
event where the small but growing Austrian Koha-community met her. We listened
to her inspiring talk and later on had an exciting discussion.

Joann, have a nice stay in Germany, your next stop on your Around the World
Tour!

Best,
Márton

Joann Ransom is one of the librarians who worked with Chris Cormack to
develop the original Koha library management system back in 1999. Joann, ex
CEO of Horowhenua Library Trust, is travelling around the world aiming to
meet as many Koha community members as possible. Joann has three main
topics that she is happy to speak on: 1) Origins of Koha, 2) The Koha
Community and what that means and 3) Te Takere
:
transforming a modest public library service into a 21st century community
centre.

Hi Koha community,

We can let you know that Joann is now on her way. Following a small but
enthusiastic gathering at the Koha-OZ meetup in Sydney last night, we
delivered Joann to the airport this morning. Her next stop is Malaysia.

Dear Malaysian Koha Community
,
Joann is looking forward to coming to you next.

Thanks Jo for your visit and presentation about Koha in Sydney.

Cheers,
Irma

[Koha] Koha World Tour

2016-08-20 Thread Joann Ransom
Hi all,

Just a quick note to let you know that the itinerary for my Koha World Tour is
complete and details are being added as they come to hand for events I will be
attending as I travel around the globe. I hope to meet as many of you as
possible so if you are able to attend an event somewhere please come and say hi.

I will be updating my blog periodically – not every day because I will be too
busy – but hopefully once for each city. I will also be tweeting as @jransom
using #kohaworldtour

I also want to publically thank the generous sponsors who have helped make this
tour possible:
• Calyx
• Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia
• Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang
• First Ray Consulting
• Libserve Solutions
• Catalyst Europe
• PTFS Europe
• Interleaf Technologies
• Libriotech
• Biblibre
• Bywater
It is not a complete list because I know there are others still pulling the
itinerary together but we are on our way!

Cheers Jo.
