Per Steve Bennett's manual. Only use 30W or 10w30 in a vw. The VW oil control springs rely on 30W oil to open the passage to the oil cooler when the oil is at the correct temp. By using 20w50 the viscosity is thicker which causes the oil control spring not letting oil thru the cooler until a
