I have over 300 hours on my plane and have had the wings off twice. ( this
was for storage issues only) I have looked at the inside of the WAF's to
see no wear. STICK TO THE PLANS AND GET THE WINGS ON. Forget about any
wear. Just make sure you have flying

Glad you made it home OK. I squeeked into today's planned destination in NW
Arkansas just ahead of the next storm front and got the KR put away in a hangar
and out of the storm. I'll be here for a couple of days and will likely head
home on Wednesday. I had the pleasure of flying along

We had developed Aluminum outboard wing tanks. The can be installed or
retrofited to your KR airplan easily. Look into our web page for more
information on engines, engines kits, fuel tanks and more.

Sometimes you need to be creative with links... in this case the 'brilliant'
browser that I use assumed that the second line tag "tSep09.pdf" was not
part of the link, so when I 'clicked' on the link and it gave me the typical
'404' error message, I just went back to the original e-mail and copied
After getting rained out on Sunday, I finally got out on Monday. I
left right behind Tommy and Jeff Scott at about 1:45. Ceilings were
low and first but I ended up at 6500' with very few clouds.
I really enjoyed the gathering! Looking forward to next year!

If you have built wing tanks for your STOCK outboard wing with Diehl skins
and have any words of wisdom or pics, I can use both.
I want to get started on these as soon as possible. I hope to have this
done and the Vair engine installed by the next Gathering so I can fly high

I've been curious about this subject. Wouldn't the entire WAF
arrangement benefit if the connecting bolt holes were oversized and then
fitted with bushings (ie Bronze bushings)? This way, as the bushings
wear out, we could just toss them and replace them with new ones! Also,
the bushings would

No, don't open them up with a drill. Open them up to exactly what they need
to be with a reamer
Hi Bill
I crossed into Florida today. What a steam bath. Hot and very humid. It
should be like this for another couple of months then spring like winters or
so I'm told.

Just a quick question in the WAFs with the bolt holes at 3/16 and the AN3 bolts
at 3/16 do I just force the bolt in the hole for an interference fit or do I
open it up to 13/64?

The Gathering started out on a gloomy note this year with the two
accidents on Thursday. We were very fortunate that the injuries were
not more serious then they were after viewing the condition of the
KR's. We wish Dan and Roger a speedy recovery and a safe trip home
to their families.
Sept/Oct? I'm all ears, listening especially to all you KR pilots.

after that.

Maybe the 2011 Gathering could be somewhere that's routinely a little drier,
like Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska or somewhere to the west.
I've only alienated a third of the usual KR Gathering attendees with the
I39 push, so I might as well work on those of the
