------------------------------ My aileron counter weights are 2.8 pounds each, centered on a 5.5-inch moment arm measured from the forward side of the aileron spar. The stock plans arm is a flat piece of metal, so easy to bend or break off. The stock plans call for the arm to go under the spar. My aileron counter weights arm goes through the rear wing spar. The brackets, hardware, arm and bolts for each aileron weighs 1.5 ounces less than the stock plans setup and seems to be a lot stronger.
