I'm using a hardshell on my foam construction. can anyone give me some pointers to look out for when hardshelling and fiberglassing? Do I hardshell first then wait for it to dry completely or do I put my fiberglass layup on when its still wet? Just any info will help me out. My first time f

Typically you should mix epoxy with microspheres (glass balls is what I call them ) you mix to a easily spreadable consistency, spread evenly over the foam. This mixture is lighter weight than pure epoxy is the idea behind it. The pores in the foam are filled with this micro mixture. When I say

Flox is considered structural. Flox is chopped up cotten fibers mixed with resin. The ratio you mix it is up to you. It depends on what you are working on. You need to be able to spread it, so too dry makes that difficult, too wet may be too heavy so you just have to experiment with some of it t

Not Flox! use microspheres mixed with resin, it will be mixed into a very easily spreadable paste like toothpaste!! Yes it will be to fill the pores of the foam only but as I said some wet resin will remain on the surface which will be used to start wetting out your first layer of fiberglas

As an after though I'll throw in more thing. Any time you have a shiny surface, whether it is during the first step of hardshelling or during the wet lay up of the glass, you probably have too much epoxy or epoxy / micro mix and you should do additional squeegeeing to remove the excess. If the
