Speaking of fairings and performance: Anyone have experience "dropping" a
lip from the lower cowl to let heat escape? Any design recommendations and
performance decrease / increase numbers?

No experience here whatsoever... just from what I've read about it and know
from theory. What you have inside the engine cowling is air that has
entered at a relatively high pressure and has gone
oscar I have made a fairing for my kr2s tail wheel,could possably make a mold
to reproduce it for those intrested,will try to send a picture of it if you want
