KR> sanding blocks

2014-05-16 Thread Robert Pesak via KRnet
Hi Everyone,
On the subject of sanding blocks it's?just like everything else, the longer the
better. You can pick them up at Harbor Fright or your local auto body supply
store. For the compound curves use a flexible one and the flat surfaces use the
straight one.
Good luck.?

If you hit reply, the senders e-mail address is put in the "to" line
along with the krnet e-mail address. Simply delete the krnet address
and it will go only to the sender. I used to have to hunt for it in
the long and cluttered header. I like this system better. Now if
everyone will go into there e-mail program and put something in the
"real name" box, we'll know who sent the e-mail as some fail to even
put their name in the e-mail as a signature. Thanks again to Mark
Langford for taking the time to handle the net for all of us, at his
own expense I might add.

If you are building in Canada you will be required to use 1/8 cable unless
the design specifically specifies other. Them's the rules and the delegated
inspector will check.

What are the cables attached to and what transfers the movement of
your feet to the cables?

The blame for that falls squarely on AOL and Yahoo.

KR> Rudder pedals

On my S project I also beefed up the rudder horn. The original design
had hand operated brakes and there was never much stress on the rudder
horn unless you just pushed on both rudder pedals for no reason. Since
most of us are adding brakes now we put a lot more stress on the rudder
horn. Not sure if anyone has ever broken one or not.

I would definitely recommend going up a few sizes on wall thickness
(.058) on the rudder tubes as I bent them twice trying to stop on a
short runway.
The right hand one is really the culprit not so much the left one due to
the torque you can apply when ttinfo/krnet_list.krnet.org to change

the rudder tubes as I bent them twice trying to stop on a short runway.
The right hand one is really the culprit not so much the left one due to the
torque you can apply when the adrenaline starts flowing and the end of the
runway is near.
I actually ended up re-enforcing the lower corners with an internal tube to
strengthen the weld and torque points to stop it from bending.
The rudder pedals were one of the surprising things that I did not expect to
have any problems with yet it was an ongoing issue until the third set were
made as above.
Contact me directly if you need more details.

I also build R/C planes and the hobby shops sell sandpaper on the roll for
about 5 -7$ It has a sticky back and you can stick it to almost anything, angle
iron/aluminum, edge of 2 X 4, etc. worked great for me.

KR> 'net testing

2014-05-16 Thread Mark Langford via KRnet
In an effort to make the list more useful and less bothersome...could all
you "net list testers" think of some meaningful contribution to make while
you're testing? Anything regarding KR flying or building. Like maybe "I've
found that putting a 90 watt floodlight 18" away from a layup cures it in
just a couple of hours, and allows me to get a lot more done on a small part
by allowing three different work sessions in the same day", or something
like that? Or maybe "There's been a history of the plans-built rudder pedal
system breaking prematurely, so I made mine from the next larger diameter
but thinner wall tubing and they are way stiffer but weight the same". Or
just sit on your hands for a while until you really have a reason to send a
post and then see if your test worked?

Thanks...
