I used screws to the firewall, not bolts though the firewall. I did not hinge
it, just attached it per plans with the recommended spacing. I see no reason
that screws would not be sufficient.

I don't think you'll find an absolute answer to that. But if you want to run
autogas from the pump, you need to have a lower compression ratio somewhere
around 7.5:1. Higher compression ratios are fine, but you need to run 100LL. I
believe 8:1 is normal for a GP engine.

My airplane setup is pretty close to what you are describing. I have a Dynon D6
