KR> project update

2012-01-04 Thread rkp...@comcast.net

Hi Everyone,

Just a update on my project. Last Friday the UPS Lady carried a long box up to
the front door,I ordered a 60" x 68" pitch from Ed Sterba, after she handed it
over I seen a hole punched through the 1/4 plywood.I thought this can't be,she
was nice enough to stay lone enough while I remover about thirty screws to
check every thing out. IT LOOKS GREAT! The only thing I need before I can start
cutting on the prop spinner is the front bulk head.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

Congratulations! Your plane is looking like we should be seeing it in Mt Vernon
this fall.

I've had the same situation, except Fed Ex had rammed the prop through the end
of the crate, then broke 4" off the tip. It took 4 months, several rounds of
appeals, and a see you in court notice with Fed Ex Ground before they finally
paid for it. Glad yours wasn't damaged.

for a O-200 by Dan Deihl. Is there anyone still making that cowling, or was
that just a one time thing?

 Hi everyone

I received my prop hub extension from Saber Inc., it looks great. I couldn't
wait to see how it looked on the front of the 0-200. It seem to be a very tight
fit over the prop hub on the engine, it would only go about 1/4" and stop.
Would I have to first heat the prop hub extension to install it?

All the hardware in question was hand made using a metal cutting band saw to
cut the steel. or a regular wood cutting miter saw with a 60 tooth carbide
blade to cut the 6061-T6. All the steel was welded using aTIG welder.Nothing
real high tech in my shop. One other thing I didn't mention, when cuting the
steel,a jig saw with a metal cutting blade works great for cutting steel.Infact
I use it more then my band saw.

Very nice photos and workmanship. I have a question. Did he fabricate the
hardware for his canopy hinge and wing control surfaces himself or are they
prefab? The hardware looks very nice.

Hi, I?m a new pilot and a new KR owner;

I live near Houston TX and wanted a inexpensive airplane both to build and to
opperate. I just picked up a project that was started in 1974.I bought this Kr
1 (almost completed project) that is in amazingly good shape. It's all there,
motor, prop, gages, canopy and everything is done except the finish.

My little plane needs body work!, I called around to aircraft supply houses and
couldn't get any clear guidance on the latest improved bonding agents with
filler.  I read the article on "micro balloons" and how to do the bodywork but
again wasn't clear on the epoxy to use.

Would someone who know this kind of stuff give me some direction and a resource
to get? Please enlighten me. I would love to call someone and ask questions
about body work i.e. adding more layers of fiber etc Anyone in Texas also
would be good. :)

thanks
rick

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is is well, I took some time to update my  PotoBucket . One of
the things I changed was the finish on my panel,at first I painted with a
hammered gray finish,it wasn't long before I realized it was very fragile and
would chip easily. After taking every apart and striping all the paint,I took it
and all the other parts to get power coated with Matt white finish. I was
hoping to fly too the next gathering, but at this rate I'm not so sure.
