KR> new 'Position and hold' phraseology

2010-09-04 Thread eric.pi...@starband.net
Subject: new 'Position and hold' phraseology

Beginning September 30, 2010, the words "Line Up and Wait" will replace the
words "Position and Hold" to instruct a pilot to enter the runway to await
take-off clearance. The FAA Office of Runway Safety seeks your assistance in
spreading the message about this important new rule.

Under the new "Line Up and Wait" phraseology, the controller will:

- State your call-sign;
- State the departure runway;
- State "Line Up and Wait".

Be aware the phrase "Traffic Holding in Position" will continue to be used
to advise other aircraft that traffic has been authorized to "Line Up and
Wait" on an active runway.

The FAA campaign to educate pilots includes a new runway safety web page,
which features a short training video and more details about the new
procedures.

Go to: www.faa.gov/go/runwaysafety--click on the "Runway Safety" banner at
the top of the web page. Also attached is a flyer which can be printed and
posted.

Thank you in advance for helping us reach as wide an audience as possible
with this important new safety information.

Sincerely,

FAA Office of Runway Safety
Washington, DC

KR> Engine mount

2008-10-12 Thread eric.pi...@starband.net
After talking with my welder about my engine mount. He stated that I
should drill some small holes in the welded tubing at the low spots to let
condensation drain out. I told him that Willie Wonka had charged the
tubing with gas as he welded the mount up. He said it did not matter as
the mount would rust from the inside out with out the drain holes. This
guy gets recertifed every 6 months so I tend to believe him. After I get
my mount powder coated I will drill the proper holes for drainage.

KR> A time to build

2008-10-12 Thread eric.pi...@starband.net
Well after 28 years of service with the Indiana Air National Guard, it
only took 10 minutes to sign the papers to end that career. On August 30th
I well end 28+ years service with the US Air force. This is of my own
accord. I will then start full time building on the KR for at least one
year. I hope to have the KR done in that year. Then I will want to go back
to work before the wife kills me.
