When building my first KR2 back in the 70's, I just loaded my spars and fuse. into my van and drove to the FSDO's office. I walked in and told them I had my parts in my van and would they please come out and check them out and sign them off for me. No problem, I was out of there in about 10

  Ron, That's the way it's supposed to work... in theory. The reality is that many FSDOs simply don't have the manpower to do amateur built inspections. I have seen guys get held up for a year waiting on FSDO to do an inspection because they wouldn't cough up the $500+ travel expenses to
