Anybody heard anything good or bad about the ICOM A-200? I've finally become
convinced that my Terra has a modulation problem (I can talk clearly for a
hundred and fifty miles, but everybody complains about my radio when I'm within
three miles of the airport), so I'm going to swap it out with
We put one in our towplane a few months back Mark, and we've been very happy
with the radio.

Mark can you put a dummy load on the radio to reduce the
radius it will transmit when you get in close. We use to do that with ham
radios and CB's years ago it acted like you cut the power in half. That way
people in close could hear you but farther out they could not. Im not

Mark,
We have been using one in our old Cessna 175 for years and have had no
trouble with it whatsoever. In my opinion it is bullet proof

Hi Mark,
There are several at my airport with A-200s and they are all pleased
with them. I am getting ready to order one myself for my RV-7A panel.
Looks like you have come to the same conclusion I have, The A-200

Mark, Brian Kraut installs that model in boats all the time, with their
frequency set in it, and he repaired mine that I sent him to test and
installed it later in his Clipper I think that he sold to another guy. It is

The Microair radio has the similar features as the xcom. and well worth a
look. Fits in 2 1/2 panel hole and about half the length behind the panel.

If you can afford the price a Garmin 250 will give you
a great radio with a nice GPS I have a 250 and the 300
and really like them. Have had no problem with the 250
for about 3.5 years and 2 years with the 300. The
difference between the to is the 300 is IFR approved
with the right installation.
