I would caution that the AS504x airfoil series was not tested in icing
conditions. Simulated bug guts yes but not ice.

My wooden prop has a brass leading edge, many wooden props come with some type
of leading edge protection. All the Hoffman and MT props do as well. The
Hercules props have a composite leading edge. I flew IFR for many hours with no
problems. Also, just because you are in cloud, it doesn't necessarily mean it's
raining. So you can fly for hours IFR without damaging an unprotected wooden
prop if you would want to. Also, the KR2 flies ok with a good build up of ice
on the wings. It didn't seem to make much difference to performance, not sure
about stall speeds, but I wasn't near stall speed so... Go for it!!!
