KR>New Air Foil Questions

2008-10-12 Thread Russ & Brenda
Hey Gang,
We are completeing a KR2-S with the Diehl wing skins. The wings are bonded
together but not finished.
Here are the questions.
1. What kind of performance improvements would we get buy building the new
wings?
2. What kind of modifications would we have to make to our stub ends?
3. Is anyone making wing skins for the new air foil?
4. Are wing tanks ok in the new foil?
Is anyone actually flying the new wing and can testify to the increased
performance?

Thanks, you guys make this so much better than being on our own,
Russ Houck.

KR>New Air Foil Questions

2008-10-12 Thread Dan Heath
Russ,

First, you must answer the most important question. Do you want to build,
or do you want to fly?

OH, and I forgot, and how much more money do you want to spend?

I have to agree with Dan. If I had the much-sought-after Diehl wing skins
sitting on my plane, I'd go ahead and be done with that job in short order
and move on. Since nobody makes the new airfoil in wingskin form, it would
be a significant time penalty to switch to the new airfoil at this point.

But to answer all your questions, visit http://www.krnet.org/as504x/ and
the three links available from there for the gory details. I'm solidly
convinced that the new wing is an improvement over the old one, but not
worth the effort unless you don't have any wings yet, or your present wings
need to be replaced anyway...
