Definite bummer. Dave was a fixture at the gatherings and a nice guy.
Had several long chats with him about his project.
Condolences to his family.

Thanks for the nice words Joe. I'm also one who needs motivating to finish
mine. I started mine just before my first son was born. He turned 27 last
Friday.. ... I went to a gathering at Lake Barkley and one south of Nashville
that included a drive to Mark Langfords house in the late 90's and then
vicariously through Dave's treks.

Thank you for sharing Rich, This saddens me greatly. Dave and I first met up
sharing the trip to Red Oak in 2003. We saw each other many times over the past
20 years now. His photography is and was always fabulous. There is a photo he
took of 357cj diving away from him at Mount Vernon which he composited into a
sunset shot he took while I was standing by him in the restaurant. I have seen
that picture hanging on the wall of 3 different airports that I happened into
over the years and really brought a smile to me. He had given me several shots
of leaving Nashau airport when I was up there one weekend that I kept on my
screen saver for years. We last spoke probably 2 years ago now when i was
really getting on him about getting back at the plane. I am pretty sure he
trailered his plane at least once and maybe twice to gatherings which is no
small undertaking. I will miss him.
If and when there are services planned please let us know, if in
Connecticut or Tennessee It is not to far for me to see him off.

Dave, being a bit "over-sized" would mail me his extra large (XXX)
shirts to have embroidered with the Gathering art.  My supplier seldom
carried his size.  I recall Dave saying he drove straight through from
the East coast to Mt.Vernon for the last Gathering.  That's more go
power then I've ever had.

Another friend to miss that I've made in the KR community and attending
all but one of the last 34 Gatherings.  I know Dave has attended the
Gatherings as far back as 2004 in Mt.Vernon.  Several times he went up
in the cherry picker and took a photo of the group.  Our condolences to
his family and friends.  Get you project started or finished.  Time
waits for no one.

Zach went flying again today.  211LF has now passed 1000 hours flight
time. 211LF is getting him some good stick time to prepare him for the
jets he'll be flying in a few months! 🙂
