What version of Kubuntu are you using? I just installed KDevelop3 throug Adept
on a Dapper Flight 5 box and the icons were created sucessfully.
You could add the icons yourself through the KDE Menu Editor.

because I don't like the Kubuntu Default Settings.

xev seems to recognize both Volume up and Volume down perfectly. Also,
I can map both keys with xbindkeys tool. It's just that in KDE the
Volume up does not do anything.
