As far as I can see, this is KDE issue, not CUPS.

Paul, no one is asking you to switch to gnome. However, knowing what
works and what doesn't work helps to triage the bug. I think it is all
very well explained in this article How to report bugs effectively

Thanks for your comment. The changes you are requesting require more
discussion and should rather be done on an appropriate mailing list or

Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if
@ WlaterNicholls, hint: if you write bug 42123, launchpad automatically
generates a link to the bug, however, if you write only #42123, it
doesn't.

How is a novice user supposed to know what to do when their serial
mouse doesn't work?
Read the documentation :)
Even if there is no working autodetect, at the very least there should
be some way to manually configure a serial mouse during LiveCD
startup. Other distributions have had
Same problem with X800 GT, AMD64. X starts with 'fglrx', but then i get
a lockup every time i try to switch to console, logout, reboot or
shutdown. Under Breezy everything worked just fine. With 'ati' i get a
'device not found', and with 'vesa' i get a lockup immediately. I tried
the above
I encountered the same problem, including icons, window decoration and
even wallpaper.
There is a forum post discussing the same phenomenon, and the temporary
solution is to change it from an opened window (right click on the title
bar and configure window behavior from there), it works for me.
I did not have the commented line, so I added it to the section
[X-:*-Core]. It worked! Thanks a lot, franceloc.

Please add my vote to please fix this bug. I dist-upgraded from
Kubuntu Breezy, and a number of my personal configs got stomped.
There is no Midnight Commander profile on either of my Kubuntu systems.
A manual fix was posted for this on the Kubuntu forums at
After a complete restart of the computer it now works. I had restarted
the X-server after the upgrade, but that was not enough, a complete
reboot was required.

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop
When I install kubuntu 6.06 firefox isn´t installed by default.
I uncommented all repositories in adept, but I can´t find firefox, neither by
entering firefox nor mozilla in adept.
I think there´s something wrong since I know that
Amarok 1.4 is not in Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.
Please file this bug at

Same problems as above. Upgraded from Kubuntu 5.10 to 6.06 (64 bit).
Generally runs and boots fine. During boot up kdm randomly dumps out to a
console login (tested at about once in 4 - 5 reboots in succession).
Xlog files looked normal. Found 'kdm_greet' messages (as above) in syslog.
Fixed in Dapper 6.06 for me, but other possibly related problem - see
