Did you click apply after changing to double click?
I tried to reproduce this by changing to double click, applying, then changing
cursor theme, then restarting kde, and didn't have this problem on Feisty Herd
4.

I can't reproduce it on Feisty Herd 4. The screen properly returns to
vt7. Could you try Edgy or Feisty and see if you have the problem?

Are you running nvidia?
On another Feisty system that uses the nvidia driver, it didn't come
back to vt7. I could change back to it with ctrl+alt+f7, but the screen
was frozen although I could move my mouse. This is probably related to
bug 32389.

Does it happen if you use the ati driver instead of the fglrx driver?
Does it still happen with a newer version of Kubuntu?

I couldn't reproduce it with Kubuntu Feisty Herd 4 and the ati video driver.
What version of Kubuntu are you running? Do you still have this problem with
Edgy or Feisty? What video driver are you using?

I tried to reproduce it by hitting entery like crazy (I have the confirmation
dialog disabled) but it didn't crash. I am using Kubuntu Feisty with latest
updates (KDE 3.5.6). Could you try Edgy or Feisty with KDE 3.5.6 and see if
you still have this problem?

It works fine for me on Feisty. Does the sidebar not work at all or is it only
the metabar that does this?
Could you try removing the sidebard config files in ~/.kde/share/config

No I'm not running nvidia.
On Edgy, it happens not very often any more and if it happens I can use
the function keys now, so it's solved for 95%. Didn't test it yet on
Feisty. Will migrate later this week. I will keep you informed if it
happens again.
