I have set up a computer with an ATI 9550 and open source drivers. And
as Dagfinn say here, I am missing this subsection of the settings. But
Something he forgot to mention is that there are other buttons missing
as well.
Kubuntu correctly detects the outputs of the card this computer is using
I found similar bugs related to GDM and encrypted home directory.
Unfortunately it might not be a bug after all. Correct me if I'm
wrong...
Apparently for security reasons, it's mandatory to prompt for the user

presenting lots of problems (different UI, regressions, etc.).

plasma-widget-network-manager from kubuntu-experimental behaves a LOT
better. On initially connecting, I entered the WEP key and checked
connect automatically, and it asked for the connection details a
second time. Patiently I added them in, and lo and behold, connectivity.

I can confirm this issue on my Jaunty box (which was an upgrade from
Intrepid rather than a full install). My dmesg is attached, which
contains all the mt352 messages - I don't think this bug is particular
to kaffeine tho, as I don't use it- I'm using MythTV.

That still leaves the question as to why do the kcron man pages still
suggest that it is an executable. This needs to be fixed.

You're right, a seporate program might be too much. I believe the update
program should warn people to gather their wep keys and other network
authentication because it will be lost in the upgrade.
Basically, I think the pop-up note saying :hey, do you want to do a
dist-upgrade?..
