Indeed it may be a video card problem.
During those two seconds I cannot hit the turnoff button as it is not visible.
All I see during this time is a white box. After the fade efect is done, the
box will correctly show the buttons.
I have the an ATI graphic card (hd4300) with ati radeon 9.5

On Kubuntu karmic alpha 2 live cd, trying to install kdepim-dbg I get
No space left on device, even with 2Gb ram and 4 Gb swap, and using an
external disk for /var/cache/apt/archives. Can someone give hints about
this, or can someone else try to replicate this bug?

Yes, a clean install. I am no longer using that install, however, so I
do not know if the problem exists in more recent versions. When I get
some time I will test the Karmic betas. Please leave this issue open to
remind me to check this issue on 64 bit Karmic. Thanks.

I just installed amarok 2.1 on Jaunty by adding
http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu
to sources.list, and started experiencing this bug. I know it's in
backports; just hoping it helps someone track this down. Along with
amarok, it also upgraded to the latest KDE4 binaries.
