Looks like the pre-removal script somehow got corrupted. While this
isn't anything that we can fix with an update since the failure is
pretty much contained to your local computer, it is still most likely
still an issue for you. Therefore I am converting this bug into a

When I use DNG converter it produces DNG files which are not valid. The
camera is a Canon EOS 300D producing .CRW format files. When I run
DNGconverter from the command line no errors are reported. Using file it
seems to be OK:

Sorry, I forgot to mention... I am running Xubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10.
Kernel 2.6.31-16-generic with an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8100 @
2.10GHz. Unlike the previous user who had issues with a segmentation
fault, mine was not on an x64 processor.
