David, if this can help, POT files are imported from actual packages,
even for KDE. Only translations come from kde-l10n-*. However, these
packages were *copied* from a PPA and that may be something that caused
some problems (stripping doesn't happen in PPAs).

I am sorry for the confusion above, the problem remains. It only worked
for the higher resolution, I probably hadn't had the screen cached and
it looked ok, but today I tried it again with another resolution and
there were the old screens.

I made a package for MSI WIND U100, which solves the brightness flickering.
I've only modified the gpm-brightness.c. You can find the package here:

I found that amarok works for a user and doesn't work for another, so I
made some testing:
- Create a new user -> Amarok works
On user that was crashing
- remove amarok cofig files -> nothing changes
- remove .kde folder -> nothing changes
- remove .xine folder -> Amarok works again...
