I use dual screen quite often but not always. This behavior is the same
for a single and a double screen. This is why I was reluctant to try
nouveau, which used to have a lot of issues with that configuration. So
far it works fine.
That other bug might be related; also, judging by the screenshot,
I can confirm the sddm start issue after upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu
16.04. From /etc/syslog:
chdir( /var/lib/sddm ) failed for user: "sddm"
/var/lib/sddm was not existing in my case. So, I created it and adapted its
permissions:
sudo mkdir /var/lib/sddm
sudo chown -R sddm:sddm /var/lib/

This is really a wishlist item, not a grave bug. Hopefully this is the
right place for reporting it.
Currently upgrading packages from the Kubuntu desktop is too long a
process, requiring, in my opinion, too many clicks in different and
unintuitive places.
