I had Mesa installation issues, and while installing Kubuntu, the KDE
driver crashes upon boot up. I am running Ubuntu 16.04. Appears
something is corrupted in the Xorg config.

I had Ubuntu 16.04, then installed Kubuntu desktop and many icons were
not appearing correctly. Same applied for application launcher icons I
had defined myself. I gave them the path to an existing icon but I would
get nothing in
Problem still exists in Zesty, confirming herophuong93 workaround works
for me.
