I think you may be unaware of the correct procedure for this sort of
duplicate bug. It doesn't do anybody any good if you just copy
I believe kdelibs is the one to install the -dbgsym package for. The
problem with these sort of crashes is that they're sporadic and hard to
reproduce. Let me know if you're able to make more progress on this
one. Is it even still a recurring problem?

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that when a large corporation

be fixed for feisty they need to be worked on now. Since the packagers
of those apps most likely haven't seen this bug, please file bugs
against each individual app so the developers will become aware of the

Just FYI: Amarok stores settings in two places:
~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc keeps where your collection is stored,
media devices you have connected, and other such settings.
~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ stores your collection database, album covers,
podcasts, playlists, etc.
And did that bug
See if reinstalling amarok helps. This won't eliminate any statistics
or album covers, etc that you already have in Amarok, it will just
reinstall the binary package.

I'm actually now experiencing a vaguely similar issue in KDE 3.5.5 on
edgy. The KDE Daemon can no longer auto-mount removable media (usb
flash drive, ipod nano, etc). The drives are visible in `lsusb` `dcop
kded mediamanger fullList` and also media:/ but can't be automounted.

This bug is still occurring in my up to date edgy (02 Oct `06).
I've attached a trace of the crash as caught by the KDE Crash Handler.

By redundant separator, do you mean that a separator exists at the
bottom of the menu that doesn't need to be there (it's at the end of the
menu anyway)?

Now that 3.5.4 has been released, I would assume this bug can be marked

I like the first proposition. Having kubuntu-desktop depend on meta-
packages like kubuntu-laptop-addons, etc, would serve the same effect as
having it depend directly on those packages, wouldn't it?
It would also allow users to easily take off laptop-oriented software if
using a desktop, etc.
I think the DVD at the end of your command kaffeine -d /path/to/backup
DVD should be removed. kaffeine -d /path/to/backup
-d, --device argument
Set Audio-CD/VCD/DVD device path (e.g. /dev/cdrom)
All that would be necessary would be the options (-d or --device) and
the argument
I know we just asked for testing under a newer version, but could you
try an even newer version? I think Amarok is up to 1.4.3 now. How
about Edgy Beta?
Do you have similar problems with other hotkeys too? Hopefully this
information will help get the bug solved.

Amarok hangs when holding
I can confirm this bug. It's frustrating that those extra directories
don't appear in Amarok's collections, though. You can right-click-show
hidden folders in Konqueror, but not in Amarok. I still think it's a
valid bug, because the user is not given a way to access those files.

I had this bug with Amarok 1.4 on Dapper fully updated as of 2006-05-19.
I resolved the bug and got my collection functioning again by navigating
to the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok directory and deleting these files:
collection.db
collection_scan.files
collection_scan.log
(and a number of other log
