http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130625#c8 I sent this further upstream with a request to put the patch into trunk, so it can make its way into Ubuntu repositories after the next taglib release. Until that happens, it appears the only fix will be to build taglib from source and include the

[Bug 58617] Re: Saying no to MP3 support on fresh install says that Amarok is now ready to support MP3

2007-01-03 Thread Andrew Ash
The install mp3 support dialog is activated by running /usr/lib/amarok /install-mp3 Basically all that script does is install libxine-extracodecs from multiverse. Make sure you have multiverse enabled from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Kubuntu. Then install libxine-extracodecs

[Bug 21827] Re: Wikipedia page lookup should load the right page

2007-01-03 Thread Andrew Ash
It appears that upstream won't be fixing this bug, I'm guessing since there are so many corner cases. 1.4.5 is expected to act much better in this regard for English speaking users, since it will try Tool (band) before Tool Part of the problem is that different languages will have different

[Bug 21827] Re: Wikipedia page lookup should load the right page

2007-01-03 Thread Andrew Ash
I'm using a pretty recent SVN build of Amarok ( 3 days) and I can confirm that it does the correctly behavior of searching for 'Queen (band)' before 'Queen'. I'm marking Fix Committed, since Amarok 1.4.5 will have this change included. Let me know if it doesn't work once 1.4.5 is released.

[Bug 64047] Re: Can't install amaroK though Synaptic in Edgy

2006-12-21 Thread Andrew Ash
Usually if you have trouble installing something, using aptitude instead of apt-get at the command line can help fix things. Aptitude has better dependency handling than apt-get, which I believe synaptic and adept use underneath. Since it's not a problem anymore and we haven't had any

[Bug 72388] Re: Flac files not work in dapper/Amarok 1.4.3 and Kde 3.5.2

2006-12-21 Thread Andrew Ash
You're right, 1.4.4 isn't in dapper-backports. It's also not in the kubuntu.org repositories (see http://kubuntu.org/announcements/amarok-1.4.4.php ). It looks like the only way to get Amarok 1.4.4 is to use Edgy or compile from source, which might be too demanding. Personally, I'd make the

[Bug 49774] Re: (WISH) Reduce the number of dependences in kubuntu-desktop

2006-10-02 Thread Andrew Ash
I like the first proposition. Having kubuntu-desktop depend on meta- packages like kubuntu-laptop-addons, etc, would serve the same effect as having it depend directly on those packages, wouldn't it? It would also allow users to easily take off laptop-oriented software if using a desktop, etc.

I can confirm this bug. It's frustrating that those extra directories don't appear in Amarok's collections, though. You can right-click-show hidden folders in Konqueror, but not in Amarok. I still think it's a valid bug, because the user is not given a way to access those files. Ideally,
