possibly this issue is resolved by that.

X is a server, so its CPU usage is driven by client requests. If you're
getting high X CPU it means you've got a buggy client app. So this is
not an X bug but rather a bug in Kile.

I am disappointed by the tone of posters on this bug report; such
conduct does not represent the Kubuntu community very well.
I had been keeping this bug report separate from other performance
reports, in anticipation that something Kubuntu-specific could be done,

Thank you for reporting this bug and for your efforts to make Ubuntu
better. As Xorg has improved this past year, an unfortunate side effect
of these improvements is that it has rendered several design assumptions
in displayconfig-gtk obsolete. So, starting with Hardy we are no longer

@Bob Bagwil: Thanks for the feedback, and that's a good point about the
resolution config dialog size. I had shrunk it down a bit, but hadn't
tested against 640x480. However I don't think it would be difficult to
shrink it down further. Could you open a new bug report against gnome-
, but these issues are
reported separately already.
Configuration can now be done using either the xrandr command-line
utility or in the xorg.conf file. In addition, we're anticipating
having a GUI to do this, by either Hardy or Hardy+1.

Hi Lutz,
This is a long-known issue (bug 3731). There are several ways you can
work around it, however:
1. Remove your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, and allow Xorg to autodetect
everything.
