I downloaded 4/7/16 15:37 Gnome AMD64 iso and this problem still exists.
I see that the issue was marked as Fixed. Is this drop supposed to
contain the fix or is there a delay in seeing this in the drop?

Okay
I think I found out reason of problem
I've been using bridge network interface for some KVM reason. networkManager
seems like don't support this type of connection in 14.04 LTS so I set up
network in /etc/network/interfaces and did not pay attention to
networkManager's applet in tray long
well, meanwile some new updates comes including new kernel, from 3.13.0-70 to

without any hope I did purge/install and trouble seems the same:

Application may misbehave.
well some news again
nor pidgin nor psi do not connect to jabber servers

Marmus, thank you. Your suggestion worked for me. I upgraded to 12.04

got uninstalled (I did not even notice how it happened). After that I
had this problem and could not install it. reinstalled libqtcore4, it

the file '/etc/xdg/Trolltech.conf' is in two packages

Well, it got a little annoying. I did a few tests with two types of
configurations in /etc/nsswitch.conf
1) it is either
hosts:files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns
or 2)
hosts: files dns
I also have the following in the /etc/resolv.conf :
#long lookup
options single-request

With the option hosts:files dns in /etc/nsswitch.conf things seem
to get better, however as before I still cannot get cnews.ru to load as
in the previous case with both firefox and epiphany-browser . As far as
the chromium-browser is concerned, it mostly loads never finishing
though. The
Gabe, it doesn't make it faster, thanks for the correction, though :)
What seems to be helping here is adding the options single-request in the
/etc/resolv.conf
Wat is an enigma again, only chromium-browser, firefox, epiphany suffer from
it, not text browser, nor everything else that uses dns.
Running gnome under kdm produces this bug on Lucid. Thanks #18 fixed it
for me.

create it in the more straight forward fashion.
Click KNetworkManager's system tray icon, click Manage Connections.

This is very weird. I experimented with some of the files amarok has
trouble reading. I copied them to a different directory and had amarok
load them ... and it now reads their tags. However, just symlinking does
not help. If you want me to investigate any further I could. 'Cause,
