Have encountered this issue on a Lenovo G70-80 80FF Laptop, Windows 10
was already installed and wanting to install (dual boot) Linux, which I
have had no problems before until Ubuntu 17.10 was installed, and when
trying to enter System Settings in Grub is still showing,

Workaround in #4 works for me, but only for the computer-integrated
speaker. Integrated microphone and also headsets don't work any more.

I've activated kubuntu-backports and I'm now running a fully updated
system (KDE 5.3). The problem still persists. I don't get the login
screen if I turn off the monitor and then immediately on again. However,

It hapens because the xorg.conf file know has some new InputDevice lines, for
tablets pc's.
Just comment out this lines and it will work. Perhaps this automatics entrances
aren't so nice...
