The icon itself
1) stays after an upgrade (even though there are no updates available)
2) reappears after loging out (without icon) and loging back in again (when I
first reported the bug it appeared only after restarting Dapper)
3) vanishes after updating your source-repositories (be it with

I think you missunderstand the problem reported. I do not have any problems
with packages being held back nor about any notifications regarding them.
This bug is about adept notifier constantly showing /!\, even though there are
no updates whatsoever.
I still see this behaviour
Okey, so what is the actual bug? What does the tooltip say? Does the
icon disappear after a minute or two after login? Or it stays there
persistently?

I think that packages held back are still not latest (obviously) so the
warning about packages not being latest is appropriate IMO. You could
file a wishlist asking for a new notifier state only held-back packages
have new versions available with a different icon. A 3.0 material
though.

In this particular case, adept_notifier shows a
Yesterday no updates were held back. I had the problem a few days ago with
update-manager requiring unattended-upgrades, thus held back. The solution was
adding the universe repos.
I can' tell, whether this issue started before, since or after the
update-manager incident.

if you run sudo apt-get dist-upgrade in a konsole does it say anything
usefull?

in the requested column of adept_updater you may see no change next to some
packages? currently i have librdf0 python-mysqldb and python2.4-mysqldb
