Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

I just upgraded from Breezy Badget to Dapper DRake, and everything
looked good. Then I decided to switch over to Kubuntu (kdm login).  I
used synaptic to add the requiered packages.

After logging on using kdm, the red icon on the upper right launched the
familar dialog box, but I saw no option to shutdown the machine. I see
the others (log off, switch user, hibernate, etc), but no Shutdown.

Workarounds:
1.) Log off, then use kdm to shutdown the notebook. This is an IBM R40 with 1GB 
RAM.
or
2.) Switched back to using gdm to login, and that looks fine. 

In general Drake feels buggier than Badger (buttons have specks of
"dirt" etc).
