I observe this problem too but am able to fix it by changing Kaffeine to
use alsa instead of auto (which is pulseaudio):
Settings / xine Engine Parameters / audio / driver = alsa
I think this is related to bug #205300.

I've had to switch to GDM instead of KDE4's KDM, since it tends to crash
Xorg before login. This crash causes bulletproof X to default to low-

I'm using Kubuntu 9.04 (beta) x86 with KDE 4.2.2.
My keyboard is Chery - eVolution Stream Corded Multimedia Keyboard.
After some hours logged in, the keys stop working. Un-In-plugging the keyboard
doesn't fix the problem.
