ubuntu-support-status --show-all shows the package muon as completely
unsupported while muon-discover with the same version has support for 5
years.
Is this a bug or did it mean, that using muon endangered the system?

You can install the Muon Package Manager to have that all packages
experience. By design, Muon Discover is a end-user (i.e., not an expert
user) level application, like an app store thing. If what you want is
a more direct GUI front-end to apt-get / aptitude-search, then what you
want is the Muon
