[Bug 16454] Re: Sound still comes out of speakers when PCM volume is set to 0.

2007-09-22 Thread manu
What's very curious about this is you can get some weird behavior.
Open up a movie in totem, then turn your system volume to 0. You'll
still hear sound. But, strangely, that sound will then get quieter
when you lower the totem volume, even though in theory everything
 should be muted.

What is so strange? Two cases that may explain that behaviour:

* Alsamixer does not have a clue what is the maximum/minimum volume of
the device. So setting volume ~0 does not actually sets the device to
the minimum volume.

* Alsamixer defines incorrectly the relation between the master and PCM.
That is, huge changes in the master may result in small changes in PCM
volume: you change master from 50% to 0% (mixer) volume, but the PCM
goes from 50% to 25% (real) volume.

[Bug 144039] Print preview does not work for some zoom percentages

2007-09-22 Thread Stefan Fleiter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

When creating a print preview for documents in kmail or konqueror
(File - Print.. - makring the checkbox fpr print preview - ok)
the result depends on the zoom percentage.

Choosing 300% and above only white pages are shown.
Choosing 12.5 %, 33.3% or 66.6% no page is shown at all,
you can only see the grey background.

What makes this even worse is that print preview remembers the last zoom
setting.
So print preview won't work any more until you get the idea to change the zoom
setting
to a working value.

This bug seems similar to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=289947
which was fixed a long time ago.

Another Bug is that confirming the zoom setting from the dropdown listbox with
enter
does not do the right thing, but print the document.

[Bug 141023] Re: Gutsy: radio buttons in kde-systemsettings' Disk Filesystems module are broken

2007-09-22 Thread Liam Keene
I'm glad you looked into this a bit harder, I couldn't see the problem
at first, until I realised you were using the application in Czech.

The problem is that when the radio buttons are clicked, the device name
converted using the str function not the unicode function.

Hopefully this patch will fix this, so you can use unicode in the device
name.

In gutsy, with the new dolphin file manager, adding a folder launches
knetattach. The resulting network place is opened in konqueror not in

[Bug 14762] Re: xorg won't start on nvida 6600 card due to nv driver not supporting 6600's

2007-09-22 Thread folkoy
unfortunately, the Gusty Tribes 5 live CD fails the same way. When it
launches the GUI, the screen becomes garbled and the only thing to do is
to reset. In the previous Ubuntu release, adding the line below in
Xorg.conf, fixed the problem . Doing man nv in a shell shows what the
parameter is used for.

line to add in xorg.conf in the nv driver section to make Geforce 6600 work
properly;
 Option CrtcNumber 0

Thank Timo for looking into this.

[Bug 3737] Re: artsd crashes (segv) daily. No apparent cause.

2007-09-22 Thread obxjdt
Seems to happen to me when ever I run any 3D apps. Screensaver or gaming. I
just tried to run glxgears in the term, and it crashed XTwice
I'm using the Nvidia driver 9639 on Nvidia MX-4000. Manualy installed, not with
Envy.
Guess I'll try reinstalling it with Envy and see if it still crashes. If so,
I'll start a new bug thread with my crash report.
